About the Shakers...
The Pontchartrain Shakers are a new Blues Band featuring Amedee "A5" Frederick and Jojjo Wight as the shredding leaders of the stage.
Amedee "A5" got his start with his dad, the Creole Man Amedee Frederick at Ruby's Roadhouse. Since then, he has had the honor to perform with New Orleans legends including Dr. John, Percy Sledge, and Charmaine Neville. For six consecutive years, "A5" has commanded stages at the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage festival with J. Monque'D. He has worked music venues such as the Dew Drop Jazz Hall, the Abita Opry, the House of Blues, and the Rosedale Blues Fest.

Jojjo Wight began playing music as a child at Fritzel's European Jazz Club on Bourbon Street at age 12. At 17 she went on her first North American tour including a concert at Packard Hall. She has performed at the French Quarter festival for the last 18 years. in 2014 she recorded with Charlie DeVore on GHB/Jazzology records earning praise internationally in several reviews. Jojjo has played the New Orleans Jazz Museum and Perservation Hall to name but a few. She has worked with musicians including Lionel Ferbos, Wendell Brunious, and John "Kid" Simmons.
Both Amedee and Jojjo hail from accomplished musical families that laid the groundwork for the amazing bandleaders they are today. Creole Man Amedee Frederick is a well known musician all over and around Lake Pontchartrain and has toured the United states coast to coast and toured abroad in Europe and Central America. Jojjo's father, Jamie Wight has performed for 4 presidents of the USA, the Crown Prince of Norway, the King of Bangladesh, and was nominated for a Grammy.
Jojjo and Amedee met in high school as guitarists for the Fontainbleau Jazz Ensemble. After several years away, playing different musical venues, they reconnected at a benefit show featuring Dr. John and Rockin' Doupsie. After playing music together again, they realized that they had something incredible to offer the community. Thus, the Pontchartrain Shakers were born, driven by the deep roots in the blues and the sweet interweaving harmony of traditional jazz.
